"San Miguel"

“San Miguel” (St. Michael), the patron saint of sailors, is a key date in the Marín calendar. It features one of the most important traditions in Galicia, namely the “Danza das Espadas” (Sword Dance), which is an event of Galician Tourist Interest. Historically danced by men, its revival took place with the women’s section in 1940, thereby opening up the event to the whole family. Dating from the seventeenth century, participants wear white clothing and a red waistband for men, and blue for women, wielding a sword and dancing in procession as they accompany the figure of the saint.
