Marín, a "xeito" (way) of being and living

Enjoy our celebrations and gastronomy all year round just like a Marín resident. This is your home!

Remember our dates

Marín’s calendar starts with the “Entroido” (Carnival) and the Burial of the Sardine, putting an end to winter, and the “Festa dos Maios”, which officially embraces spring. Corpus Christi in June adorns our streets with floral “carpets” and the fervour of processions. We also toast to the summer at the “Ribeiras do Morrazo” PGI Wine Festival vindicating our winemaking tradition and, as a good old fishing village, we pay devotion to our “Virxe do Carme” (Lady of Mount Carmel) every July 16.

But, be aware, that the grand finale comes in the last days of the summer season. Popular music announces the “Son de Marín” festival. We remember the Battle of Aguete against the English in the “Festa Corsaria” (Pirate Festival) with concerts, workshops, parades and markets. We celebrate the “Rapa das Bestas of Xaxán” (Shaving of the Horses). We are thrilled by the Loire Fireworks Display. And as if that were not enough, we still celebrate our patron saint “Virxe do Porto” (Our Lady of the Port), we pay tribute to “San Miguel” (St. Michael) with the Sword Dance and we have a scary time at the “Samaín Briz.”
